In March 2024, Evolution Technical was engaged by Soul Meta Production to deliver a complex rigging solution for Ramadan-themed decorations at Dubai Mall, one of the busiest and most iconic retail environments in the region.

The project required the safe suspension of decorative pieces of varying sizes and weights at heights ranging from 7 to 20 metres, without interrupting daily mall operations. Working within restricted overnight installation windows, the project demanded detailed planning, specialist rigging expertise and professional execution.

The Challenge

Installing large-scale Ramadan decorations within one of the region's busiest shopping destinations required a rigging solution that balanced technical performance with operational efficiency.

Decorative elements of varying sizes and weights needed to be safely suspended at multiple heights while ensuring the mall remained fully operational throughout the installation. With access limited to overnight working hours, every stage of the project had to be carefully planned and executed within tight timeframes.

The installation also required precise positioning to create visual symmetry and maximise the decorative impact, complementing Dubai Mall's architecture while reflecting the cultural and spiritual essence of Ramadan.

The Solution

To meet the project's technical demands and safety requirements, Evolution's rigging team designed and constructed a 34-metre-high flown truss grid system, providing a secure overhead structure from which all decorative elements could be safely suspended.

Pre-measured steel suspension wires were prepared in advance to ensure accurate positioning and a streamlined installation process during the limited overnight access periods.

Working exclusively overnight to align with the mall's operational schedule, the team completed the full installation within the allocated programme while maintaining the highest standards of safety.

Decorative elements were strategically positioned to optimise both symmetry and visual impact, creating a striking Ramadan display that enhanced the mall environment while respecting the client's creative vision.

Hosted at Green Halls in Jeddah, the World Pool Championship 2024 brought together the world's top players for one of the most prestigious cue sports tournaments on the international calendar. To support both the live audience and international broadcast, Evolution Technical was appointed to deliver a complete AVL, rigging and special effects solution, creating a dynamic production environment from tournament play through to the championship celebrations.

The Challenge

The event demanded a technical solution that could satisfy both live spectators and broadcast audiences while operating within a purpose-built sporting environment. Audio, lighting, video, special effects and rigging systems all needed to operate as one integrated production, providing reliable performance throughout the tournament while supporting key moments such as player introductions, live matches and the championship presentation.

The Solution

Evolution delivered a fully integrated technical infrastructure centred around professional audio, lighting and networked AVL systems. Audio was built around an L-Acoustics PA system controlled via Yamaha consoles, with Shure wireless microphones and a Dante-enabled audio network providing dependable speech reinforcement and signal distribution throughout the venue.

Lighting incorporated Robe, Chauvet and Astera fixtures, programmed through Road Hog lighting consoles to create a versatile production environment suitable for live competition and broadcast. A Luminex fibre backbone formed the core of the technical infrastructure, providing fast, reliable distribution of audio, video and control signals across the venue.

A custom rigging structure using Litec truss and GIS hoist systems created a large suspended cube supporting LED displays, lighting fixtures and PA systems while maintaining clear sightlines for spectators and camera positions. To enhance the championship presentation, Evolution also supplied Galaxis G-Flames, Sparkulars and confetti effects, creating a memorable finale for players and audiences alike.

As part of the Expo Festival of Light at Expo City Dubai, AGB Events appointed Evolution Technical to deliver a fully immersive lighting and laser installation surrounding artist Khalid Shafar's sculpture.

Designed to enhance the artwork without overshadowing it, the installation combined lighting, lasers, media playback and timecoded control to create a captivating five-minute visual experience that transformed the temporary structure into an immersive environment.

The Challenge

The installation required the sculpture to remain the visual focal point while surrounding audiences with synchronised lighting and laser effects. Every technical element needed to operate with frame-accurate timing, integrating lighting, lasers and audio playback into a single programmed show. The enclosed structure also demanded careful fixture placement and custom optical solutions to maximise visual impact within a compact space.

The Solution

Evolution designed and programmed a fully timecoded lighting show using a ChamSys lighting console integrated with QLab playback and an external sound interface for precise synchronisation. The proposed method was mocked-up at our warehouse for testing and approval by the client, before final signoff and deployment to site.

Clay Paky XTYLOS laser fixtures were arranged around the installation and directed through custom-built reflectors, creating striking laser beams focused toward the centrepiece sculpture. Additional 5W laser systems enhanced the visual depth, while wireless Astera AX5 fixtures provided battery powered architectural colour washes across both the structure and sculpture base, where hard power was unavailable.

Throughout the five-minute sequence, carefully programmed lighting transitions, colour palettes and laser choreography evolved through multiple visual scenes, creating an immersive experience that highlighted the sculpture while complementing the artistic narrative of the wider festival.

For the 13th World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Conference, Evolution Technical was entrusted with delivering a complete audio and lighting package for the MC13 Ceremonial Gala Dinner at Qasr Al Watan, Abu Dhabi.

The prestigious event welcomed high-level international delegates for an evening of networking, cultural performances and formal dining, reflecting the UAE's reputation for hosting world-class diplomatic events. The Challenge

Delivering technical production within the Presidential Palace required meticulous planning, strict adherence to security protocols and logistical coordination across the Evolution Ecosystem.

One of the project's greatest challenges was the limited load-in and load-out schedule. Equipment had to be delivered, installed, tested and removed within tightly controlled access windows without compromising production quality or operational efficiency.

For the Dubai Light Art Festival at Expo City Dubai, Evolution Technical was appointed by AGB Events to fabricate and install three large-scale public art installations by renowned Emirati artists. Each artwork combined creative vision with structural engineering, custom fabrication and integrated lighting, requiring close collaboration between artists, designers and technical specialists to bring each concept to life.

The Challenge

Each installation presented its own engineering and logistical requirements. Large-scale fabricated structures had to be designed for outdoor environments, safely transported to site and installed within a compressed programme. Lighting systems needed to integrate seamlessly into the artwork while remaining discreet, weather-resistant and reliable throughout the festival. Structural stability, public safety and precise installation were critical across all three pieces.

The Solution

Evolution fabricated and installed three bespoke artworks, each engineered to meet the artist's vision while complying with international structural and safety standards.

Minaret 2.0 by Abdullah Al-Mullah featured a custom 1,000kg steel structure with geometric acrylic elements and reflective finishes, mounted on a two-ton counterweighted base. Integrated RGBW lighting was programmed to reflect the five daily prayer times through carefully choreographed colour transitions.

Musk Spectre by Dr. Najat Makki consisted of seven interconnected steel forms spanning approximately 180 square metres. Wrapped in stretch tulle fabric and illuminated with RGBW lighting, the installation created immersive shadow effects while being securely anchored within engineered sand-filled foundations.

Afterlife by Maitha Hamdan featured a six-metre-high cylindrical steel structure enclosed within a 360-degree LED light curtain, creating an immersive illuminated sculpture that transformed throughout the evening.
